Check List

What to bring:

  • Bike - With gears and hand brakes. Must be in good working condition.
  • Helmet - MANDATORY - must be SNELL, CSPC, or ANSI approved.
  • Gloves - Hand protection
  • Glasses - Sunglasses, something to protect your eyes.
  • Water - In bottle or a hydration pack.

Good to Have:

  • Spare tube
  • Pump
  • Small tool kit incl. patch kit
  • Personal 1st aid kit wallet sized laminated ID card with health #'s, allergy/medication info, name/address etc.
  • Insect repelent
  • Towel/change of clothes
  • Snack for the post ride!

Your leader will have these items with them at all times but it's a good practice to always bring these things with you when you go out riding.


Your Cycling Helmet should be a cycling helmet (SNELL/CSPC/ANSI approved) is mandatory at all Kids of Mud events, for kids and adults. The helmet should sit squarely on your head, covering the upper half of the forehead, two fingers above the brow line. The fit should be snug, but not so tight that it is uncomfortable. Adjust the chin strap so that the straps form a symmetrical V ending under the earlobe on each side of the head. You should be able to fit only one or two fingers between the strap and the underside of the chin.

Assiniboine Park - Zoo Parking Lot

Meet us at The Assiniboine Park Zoo parking lot inside of the park off of Zoo Drive. Not the parking lot off of Roblin Blvd.

Birch Ski Area

Birch Ski Area is located near Roseisle, MB, approximately 27km west of Carman, MB. From the corner of PR240 & PR245 head 1 mile west along PR245 until you reach a blue sign marked "BIRCH SKI AREA" and turn left (southbound) onto Road 40W. Then continue straight for another 2 1/4 miles until you come to an intersection that has a white shed and turn right (westbound) onto Road 32N. Continue straight. Once you're up the big hill stay to your left and you will find yourself in the Birch Ski Area parking area. See the interactive map bellow for reference.

Canadian Mennonite University Parking Lot - Assiniboine Forest

Birds Hill Provincial Park

Bur Oak Trail (B on map below) is in the southwest corner of Birds Hill Provincial Park. Enter through the west gate and turn right on to the South Drive. Once on South Drive, it is the first parking lot on the right, turn at the #7 sign.

Chickadee Trail (C on map below) is off the North Drive of Birds Hill Park, it is the second parking lot on your left, turn at the #2 sign.

Group Area #2, Site 3 (D on map below) is on the west side of the park, the site of the Winnipeg Folk Festival camp ground. From the North or South Drive, turn west on Festival Drive and turn left (north) at the second parking lot.

Group Area #1, Site 5 (E on map below) is off the North Drive, it is the driveway just after Chickadee on your left.

Garvin Road/Flood Way - Town of Birds Hill

We meet on the west side of the flood way on Garvin Road. From Lagimodiere Blvd (Highway 59), turn left at Birds Hill Road (Highway 202). Garvin Road is about 1.5km further on the right side.

Grand Beach

From Winnipeg drive north on Hwy 59 to Hwy 12. Enter the East Gate (past Thunder Mountain Water Slides) and follow the signs to the cross country ski / hiking trails. It is the first right hand turn after the gate. Parking lot is at the trailhead.

Harbour View parking lot - Kilcona Park

The Harbour View golf course parking lot is on Springfield Road north of Lagimodiere Blvd. There is a wooden lookout tower at the parking lot entrance.

Kings Park

King's Park is South of The University of Manitoba. South on University Crescent, turn left at Freedom Crescent, then right at Kings Drive. We meet in the main parking lot.

From Winnipeg, take Hwy 59 north, past Birds Hill Park and turn right on Hwy 44. Continue East on Hwy 44, through Beausejour until you reach Hwy 11, turn left (sign for Lac Du Bonnet). Take Hwy 11 north another 9km until you reach MB-211 and turn right and drive 13km until you reach the town of Pinawa. The meeting place for the race is at the end of Road 211, close to the golf course.

Westview Park - North side

Westview Park (aka: Garbage Hill) is just north of Polo Park Mall on Empress St at Wellington Ave. There are two parking lots, the smaller lot is located on top of the hill, the drive way is off Wellington Ave. The larger parking lot is further up Empress, turn left on Saskatchwan Ave. The lot is next on your right.

Whittier Park

Whittier Park is located in St. Boniface. From Provencher Boulevard head north on Rue St. Joseph. It is the 2nd street east of the Provencher Bridge. Rue St. Joseph will take you directly to Whittier Park.
